Sarah Constructions

Anglicare SA engaged Sarah Constructions as a Construction Manager to construct a new two storey 120 bed aged care facility, developed on a greenfield site, in Adelaide's southern suburbs at Trott Park.

The complex includes four "wings", each wtih 30 bedrooms / ensuites, dining rooms, lounges, common areas, nurses stations and servery kitchens. The wings are positioned either side of a central common area, which includes a commercial kitchen catering for the entire facility, a commercial laundry, staff rooms, offices, consulting rooms, two large activity halls, a chapel, a small cafe and two hairdressing salons.

The project was developed on a sloping site, requiring a large volume of cut and fill. A 4.5m high retaining wall separates the future site of 20-30 assisted living units from the main facility, with a pedestria bridge spanning between the higher level units and the first floor of the facility.

A new public road was established to provide access to the site, with car parking available for about 50 vehicles.

The building is a precast concrete and structural steel structure, with a suspended concrete slab on Bondek. Contrasting coloured CFC cladding and blade walls are used to lessen the impact of the acid-washed coloured precast facade.
